A Tribute to an Amazing Mother (Mani Nua Bahu)

Life and death are inseparable truths. Where there is life, death is inevitable. What remains beyond our control are the questions of when, how, and where—matters governed by fate, not to be questioned or challenged.

I have been fortunate to know two truly remarkable women in my life: my own mother and Mani Nua Bahu. Listening to her radio talks would often transport me back to my mother’s presence. Every reflection she shared—her empathy, wisdom, and deep understanding of societal values mirrored my mother’s spirit. One particular theme she spoke about, the relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, stood out profoundly. Her narrative transcended convention, questioned no one, recognised no boundaries, and followed a philosophy rooted in compassion and humanity. It forced quiet reflection on why society, for centuries, has tolerated and even sheltered negative attitudes and strained relationships. Yet who am I to question the ways of the world?

What I felt throughout my life was that these two women never merely spoke their minds—they offered spontaneous poetry from their hearts. Their words flowed like a rhapsody, effortlessly engaging and uplifting everyone around them. That rhapsody had the rare power to dissolve pain, suffering, and inner conflict, sending waves of comfort and reassurance far and wide.

Despite being the mother of six children, Mani Nua Bahu possessed boundless energy. She, like my mother, was a constant source of happiness, strength, and emotional well-being for her family and all who knew her. Both women chose to live simply, guided by values far richer than material wealth. They shared one profound principle that defined their lives and relationships:

“Care with no reason, and love with no expectations.”

This philosophy was not merely spoken—it was lived. It shaped their actions, their resilience, and the unconditional warmth they extended to others.

Today, as we remember Mani Nua Bahu, we honour a life filled with dignity, wisdom, generosity, and quiet strength. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her values, teachings, and loving presence will continue to guide and inspire us. Her life remains a blessing, and her memory a lasting light in our hearts.
